Agate Gemstone is a variety of chalcedony bands. Agate and Onyx are both stratified chalcedony varieties that differ only in the shape of the bands. The Agate has curved bands and the Onyx has parallel bands. The Agate stone is often multi colored with translucency while the Onyx stone often has more solid color. Agate and Onyx have the same spiritual properties.
